June AND Rainey

IT IS JUNE! Finally. I feel like summer started weeks ago, but in reality most high school students are just now ending classes. The difference being in college makes. I can't believe I still have June, July and most of August to enjoy before school starts up again.

Today was the first free Saturday I have had in awhile. I love when I have to make up plans for my day. Theresa and Sammie invited me to go to Lucy's Fried Chicken on SoCo for lunch. I loved the resturant atmphoshere and the chicken was pretty tasty. Later Theresa and I ended up at Austin Pets Alive before heading to NV nails for a pedicure.

I seriously have never wanted a dog more than I did today. I went on the Internet and started searching for dogs who needed a home. I found one I really liked and convinced Theresa to go look at the dog with me. If it weren't for my roommate Rachel being allergic I would have adopted a dog this afternoon. Instead we figured the most logical option would be to foster a dog for the summer. As soon as I got home from my pedicure I filled out an application. I just have this dream of driving and Exterra with a canoe on top and a dog in the front seat. Driving around with the windows open on a Austin summer day jamming Icona Pop. Sounds like my heaven.

The most exciting part of my day was RAINEY STREET. Rainey is full of bars occupied by the Austinites who can't handle 6th street. These old houses were converted into bars and fill the entire street. It is pretty chill and the crowd is a little older than the crowd in the bars on 6th. I had never been to Rainey and was excited to cross it off my summer of FUN list!

We had a great group with us. Many of our friends showed up, which just made the night better. Sean was a gentlemen and offered to drive Mark, Sammie, Theresa and I. We met everyone else at Luster Pearl. The drinks were great but a bit expensive. I paid $5 for a vodka cranberry. Actually I guess that is a normal price for a Saturday night drink. I'm a broke college student so anything over $3 makes me cringe. I decided one drink was enough, especially since I broke my only drinking one night a week rule. Total for this week was three nights. OOPS. We headed to another bar called Bungalow. It was a great bar. I recommend it. It was more modern than Luster Pearl. I just really enjoyed the whole night, but probably because I just really enjoy my friends. I don't think I could have pictured a more perfect Rainey night.

This summer is exceeding my expectations. I can not wait to see what is in store for the month of June! Stay tuned.
